I treated the whole thing like a puzzle with no box topper and worked one bird at a time not knowing what the finished art would look like

It wasn't until I got away from the sketch and began experimenting layering crystal ice structures on top of one another that things started feeling right

In my 20 years doing this I mostly go by feel and I felt the whole thing needed to feel more face melting or mind altering

A couple of adjustments improvements I wanted to note: the pins all have a clear epoxy coating over the surface. This gives the art a more finished look and helps to minimize scratching and fingerprinting that may occur during handling. The backside of the pins now are now hand signed by me.
